Brothers in glass
So, here’s my Brother, Simon in unfamiliar surroundings. He’s more used to working in an office in London for a well-known bank – of course home working now! So very glad to see him when he popped up for a few days holiday and I invited him to pop into my workshop, something he hasn’t done for a few years now and he’s been coming up to Thurso for more than thirty years now. He’s my younger brother and I still remember (just) 59 years ago when I so him and his twin sister Mandy in a cot right after being released from hospital! Three and a half years ago Mandy died and last year our Mum joined her. Surprised there was space in Heaven as my Dad died in 2005, same year as Maureen. So, at times it seems like it’s just me and Simon – yea yea I know the grammar wrong but if you are bothered about such things then don’t read my ramblings!
It was our Uncle Ted Skey that introduced me to glass through his business in Thornton Heath, Surrey near Croydon. I used to wash the workshop floor every Saturday morning then make his tea! He used to make sure I used boiling water by inserting a thermometer (glass of course) in the mug of tea. Man, he was soooo tight, used to write the date on the inside of toilet rolls to see how long they lasted. If computers were around then I guess all this would be on a spread sheet!!!!!
Maybe I should say more, so what do you think???????

I will let everybody else decide who out of the 2 of us got the looks but I certainly know who got all the hair and it is not me!
It was a great trip and so lucky with the weather as there was actually some warmth when the sun was out!
Seems impossible that I have visited for more than 30 years and everybody is so welcoming .
Thanks for a great time Ian and Janice .
Love Simon
You were quite well behaved Simon so can come back anytime! x
Thanks for letting me know that
